GIB DANIELS
Gilbert (Gib) Daniels (SHS Class of 1961). All-Star. MVP. Versatile. Gib was a
four-sport star at Sisters High School from 1957 1961, earning multiple all-star
and most valuable player honors. On the football field, Gib lettered four years and
was MVP and high scorer his senior year. Gib also was a critical two-way player on
both the SHS 1957 and 1959 state championship football teams two teams that
set the stage for Sisters High School’s rich football tradition. For his efforts, Gib
was named to the Central Oregon Football All-Stars team. Gib was captain of the
basketball team his senior year, and also lettered in both baseball and track. A
true renaissance man, Gib served on the yearbook staff, was class president his
junior and senior years, and was vice president and president of the Thespians
Society. After Sisters High School, Gib attended Eastern Oregon University,
where he received almost every award possible to an Eastern Oregon football
player,” including most outstanding player, team captain, all-conference, and
District 2 NAIA All-Star. After EOU, Gib transitioned to teaching and coaching
(including track and boys and girls basketball). He also refereed for more than 20
years, owned and trained thoroughbred horses throughout Oregon, and even
started a high school rodeo.
