DR. SUSAN HYDE
Susan Hyde, PhD, defines the term “student-athlete.” Dr. Hyde is a 1996
graduate of Sisters High School. She was Valedictorian of the Class of 1996,
and was a three sport star in track, cross-country, and basketball. She
finished in the top 20 at the state cross-country championships during each
of her SHS years (with a high of 6
th
the same year the team finished 3
rd
), was
All-League on the basketball court, and went to the state track
championships in multiple events (at one time holding the school records in
the 800, 1500, and long jump Dr. Hyde then continued her education at
Linfield College on a Trustee’s Scholarship, and was Political Science
Student of the Year. She earned her Masters and Doctorate degrees at the
University of California, San Diego, has authored an extensive array of
articles and books, and has been the recipient of numerous grants, awards,
and fellowships, including fellowships at the Brookings Institution in
Washington, D.C. and at Princeton. Dr. Hyde is an expert on international
election observation, election fraud, and democracy promotion and, since
2006, has been a professor of Political Science and International Affairs at
Yale University. At Yale, Dr. Hyde teaches classes in international relations
and comparative politics, including both undergraduate and graduate
courses.
